Westleton Crown - Suffolk

The Westleton Crown is a former 12th century staging Inn, transformed into a boutique hotel, restaurant and pub by the same people that brought you the Tuddenham Mill.

Westleton is a lovely quiet village containing two pubs, antique bookshop, and a village shop/post office and not much else – perfect for some quiet R&R. Easy to find, just of the A12, and Aldeburgh and Southwold are only a short drive away.

The hotel has 25 number of rooms, split between good, better and best – each named after a bird you are likely to find at the wonderful RSPB reserve less than two miles down the road including Bearded Tit, Bittern, Curlew, and Swallow.

All rooms are finished with simple whites, creams and browns, and flat screens tvs etc. The best rooms have additional touches such as better towels, bath robs and a cafetiere, and some of the rooms such as Curlew come with free standing bath in the bedroom!

The food at the Westleton Crown is excellent. Breakfast is a choice of the traditional English breakfast made from locally sourced produce, and other options including Eggs Benedict and Kippers.

The locally sourced produce theme is continued at lunchtime and in the evening with options such as local fish and chips, ham hock, rabbit and Blythburgh pork in keeping with the Suffolk fishing and farming traditions. During our last stay, local asparagus was in season.
