In the summer of 2008, Jo and I decided to spend a week self catering in the lovely historic village of Thorpeness, Suffolk.
The seaside village of Thorpeness is known for its man made Mere; built for the Victorian upper class to have somewhere to rest from the rigours of the industrial revolution, an annual regatta, and most oddly the “House in the Clouds” a former water storage building now converted into a holiday home.
One South Cottages comes with one double bedroom, kitchen, living room, and a large bathroom (shower and bath), plus its own annex containing another double bedroom and wet room.
This lovely little cottage over looks the Mere, and is only 2 minute walk to the beach.
One of the beauties of Thorpeness is its close proximity to Aldeburgh, which is only 30 minutes walk down the coast (or 5 minute drive) and provides a cinema, theatre, lots of shopping opportunities, a couple of pubs, and my favourite fish and chips in the World.
There's also the opportunity as you walk back from Aldeburgh of buying locally caught fish direct from the fisherman's huts.
