Sydney... Good pies and a pub that lets you cook your own steak

After Highbury, Sydney must be my second home. Since I arrived that December evening back in 2000, I've always managed to get back there whenever I can.

I love the fact that the CBD is only a short bus ride from the beach, and is there a better way to arrange at work than to use the Manly ferry?

Whenever I visit Sydney, there's always a short tick list of things I have to do: get a pie from Harry's Cafe de Wheels, go to the Rocks and have a few beers, walk the bridge, visit Manly for lunch, and most important of all meet me old mate Brendan at the Dog track.

Sydney will always be the place that will remind me of one of the best days of my life, the Rugby World Cup in 2003. Me, Alec, Paul and Marble celebrated England's win over Australia into the small hours, but sadly all decent hotels were booked out so we nursed our hangovers in a two star by the train station (not the boutique style I'm used to!).

On my last trip to Oz I managed to get to stay in much better accommodation including The Blue Hotel, The Establishment and The Pensione Hotel
