Melbourne... day at the races and a night with Dracula

We visited Melbourne back in 2003, flying in with the wonderful Singapore Air (my favourite airline) and landed just in time for the Melbourne Cup.

The Melbourne Cup is perhaps the biggest race in the world, one of the biggest sporting events of the calendar, and the day is even a public holiday in the State of Victoria!

We had a mixed day, won a few races (including the main race), got served champagne by a former star of the Australian soap "Neighbours" but like typical Brits got badly sun burnt after being caught in a sun trap.

Due to our terrible sunburn we hardly ventured out into the Melbourne daylight, apart from the museums, MCG (Melbourne Cricket Ground), Melbourne Prison, and obviously the set of "Neighbours" but one thing we had booked was a night at Dracula's.

For those who have never of it, Dracula's is an Australian cabaret night based around the living dead where the crew serve you dinner and the jokes are shocking. Its so bad, its good!
